Requesting Private Commission Rates via the Messaging Tool

Understand how and when to request increased commission rates from brands directly in the Levanta app.

Creators can request private commissions right in the messaging tool in your Levanta dashboard. This streamlined process is designed to reduce back-and-forth communication with a seller, to simplify and organize conversations, and ultimately save you time. Whether you're looking to enhance an existing partnership or kickstart a new collaboration, this tool helps you negotiate the best possible rates in an efficient and transparent manner.

How It Works

With just a few simple steps, creators can now request private commissions directly from sellers:

1. Navigate to the messaging panel and open a message to the brand from which you would like to request a commission change. 

2. Select the $ Request Commission Change button. 

3. Select the products you wish to promote. Then, scroll down and input your desired commission rate.

4. Send your request, and the seller can either approve or deny it directly within the messaging panel.

While this feature is available to all creators, we recommend using it strategically to build meaningful, long-term partnerships. Here are some best practices to keep in mind:

  • Focus on strategic opportunities: Use this feature when you have proven success with a brand or when the current commission rate feels prohibitive to increasing your coverage.

  • Provide a rationale: Brands may want to understand why you are requesting a higher rate. When making your request, be prepared to explain why an increase would benefit both parties. This could include details on past performance or future promotional plans.

  • Follow up with a note: Consider adding a follow-up message explaining what you plan to do with the increased commission, such as expanding coverage or featuring the brand in upcoming content. Brands should understand that coverage may not be guaranteed in exchange of the increased rate, but it can be helpful to share, anecdotally, what may come with the rate increase. 

  • Request with genuine intent: Avoid requesting rate increases simply because the option is available. Only request higher rates if you genuinely see opportunity to feature the brand more extensively. Unnecessary requests can create long-term friction and potentially lead to removal from the brand's program.
