How Taxes Work on Levanta: W9s, 1099s, and Stripe

Last updated: August 12, 2025

Contracting Parties

Levanta connects Sellers and Creators to build affiliate partnerships. However, it’s important to understand that the affiliate relationship is directly between the Seller and the Creator—Levanta is not a party to these contracts.

To simplify payments and tax documentation, Levanta partners with Stripe, which manages tax collection and 1099-K issuance on behalf of Sellers.

W9 Collection & 1099-K Reporting (via Stripe)

  • Creators must submit their tax information (W9) to Stripe before they can receive payouts through Levanta.

  • At the end of the year, Stripe issues a 1099-K to each eligible Creator whose total earnings from promotions meet or exceed the required dollar threshold.

  • In most cases, Sellers do not need to issue separate 1099s, but this may vary depending on your business needs.

We recommend consulting a tax professional for advice specific to your situation.

Optional: Collecting W9s and Issuing 1099s Directly

If you prefer to manage tax documentation outside of Levanta:

  • You may request W9s directly from your Creators using in-app chat or email.

  • You may also issue 1099s independently, if needed, based on your internal accounting practices.
